This 7’2” three-piece splitcane fly rod is built on one of my favorite tapers, offering a smooth and lively action with a refined feel. The three-piece construction makes the rod easy to transport while retaining the character and feel of a traditional split cane rod. It is fitted with hand-made bamboo ferrules and snake guides, keeping the overall character of the rod simple and traditional.
The wraps are finished in transparent Kimono silk threads, allowing the natural colour and texture of the Tonkin cane to remain fully visible. A fine red tipping at the stripping guide adds a subtle accent without taking away from the understated appearance of the rod.
I particularly like the way this combination of natural cane and transparent silk brings out the craftsmanship of the rod. Every component has been carefully selected and fitted by hand, resulting in a split cane rod with a clean and timeless character.
